Being from the east coast and having an innate desire to see the world, I was blessed to have an opportunity to visit Colorado this past summer while working at the Anderson Ranch Art Center. While I was there, I had the chance to see and experience so many thing that, for me, were new, strange and captivating like the Snowmass Rodeo. Attending the rodeo was a lifetime first for myself and this work focuses on my experience being immersed in a local tradition and culture. Sharing that space with living cowboys and generations of people who live and breathe that lifestyle left me in awe. There was a respect and reverence for the space that was reminiscent of the veneration seen in religious environments. Adjusting my lens and creative eye to this idea I began to document this space and explore how and why such a place is so magical to its members.
